OMARI NEVILLE

IS THE SON OF GAYNIELLE NEVILLE AND CYRIL NEVILLE OF THE NEVILLE BROTHERS OF NEW ORLEANS; THE FIRST FAMILY OF FUNK. OMARI BEGAN HIS JOURNEY WITH THE INTRODUCTION TO DRUMS FROM HIS FATHER. BEING PLACED IN A BRASS/HIP HOP BAND DEF GENERATION AT THE AGE OF TWO AS THE DRUMMING MASCOT WAS THE BEST MOVE POSSIBLE TO GET HIS SON FOCUSED AND READY FOR THE LIFE OF MUSIC. THIS SPARKED HIS LOVE FOR MANY OTHER INSTRUMENTS, INCLUDING PIANO.

GROWING UP IN GENTILLY, OMARI DRIFTED TO THE PATH OF SONG ARRANGING WITH COUSIN AND MUSICAL PROFESSOR NORMAN CAESAR OF THE CAESAR BROTHERS. THIS OPENED THE DOOR TO THE WORLD OF PRODUCING AND MAKING BEATS. WHILE DRUMS WERE STILL THE MAIN FOCUS AND PASSION, IT WAS THE TIME ON THE ROAD WITH THE NEVILLE BROTHERS THAT MADE THIS YOUNG MUSICIAN UNDERSTAND THE LIFESTYLE OF PERFORMING AND SINGING.

THIS WAS THE SPARK THAT STARTED A TWENTY YEAR FRIENDSHIP WITH NEW ORLEANS OWN TROMBONE SHORTY, TROY ANDREWS. THE NEW ORLEANS JAZZ BABIES WERE BORN. A BAND OF YOUNG CATS WITH THE PASSION TO PLAY MUSIC. WITH THE HELP OF TRAVIS TRUMPET BLACK HILL, GLEN DAVID ANDREWS, RASHIDI AND KITO JOHNSON, FRED SHEP, TUBA FATS, BABA ALONZO, CYRIL NEVILLE, AND THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS; THERE WAS DEFINITELY SOMETHING SPECIAL IN THE JAZZ BABIES, PLAYING A BIG PART IN NEW ORLEANS MUSIC HISTORY.
